REPORTS

Minutes: July Minutes presented and accepted

Treasurers: July Reports presented and accepted

• Approximately $1,000 net over last years’ sponsorships

Membership: same count at 101

Plan Committee: No update - did not meet in August

Thieme Drive:

• Erosion Project: construction to start week of August 16

Tour Committee:

• Finalizing brochure
• Sponsorships expected at $15,500 cash & in-kind plus $500 artist booth fees.
• Next meeting scheduled for Tuesday, 8/17; held bi-weekly now

EXISTING BUSINESS

· Section 42

• Board met with Whitley Crossing Neighborhood Association (i.e. part of Passages) - Aug. 9.
• Take-A-Ways:
• Gather our requested documents and present as a combined package vs. one offs.
• Bring documents to Susan by Monday’s Association meeting.
• Give explicit directions that Ann Maddox has permission to discuss our interest with Whitley Crossing – Dave to reach out to Ann & David.
• Held properties have reached deadline and are going to be released from Sec. 42. Per Mike Anderson, we will re-evaluate any that may be in jeopardy of demolition, to see if we want to request extension. Others will be released. Majority have interested buyers.

· CHDO

• 825 W. Washington
• Need to recertify our CHDO certification – John has documentation and Jill has agreed to do paperwork since she did last certification.
• Need to investigate recertification or lapse process (is there something to do to not have it lapse in the future).
• Reviewed home floor plan created by Tom Cain (based on plans by Bernie Gump)
• Need to see if there is a restriction in state building code regarding bathroom access off the kitchen (discussion raised by Jack Stark).
• Board approved layout, Tom Cain will take back to City and have them refigure estimate.

· Local Historic District (LHD)

o David Long requested current ‘proposed’ plan from the City on August 11.

o Need to form a special committee

o Need to evaluate and understand what our best approach for support/passage

o Raise topic in August WCNA General meeting looking for committee volunteers

· Conflict of Interest

o Tabled review of sample language to Board meeting in September.

o Board in favor of adopting a policy and will continue discussion.

NEW BUSINESS

· Liability Insurance – current liability insurance coverage may not adequate

o Not carrying any workman’s compensation coverage on employees: Jill & David

o Not insured for employee practices (i.e. protection against lawsuits on wrongful termination)

o Estimated at $600 additional per year for both coverage adds for both employees.

§ Current coverage costs approx. $300/yr; increase to $900.

§ Motion and passed: Jack Stark made motion to add additional coverage; seconded by Charlotte. In favor – all; opposed – none. Passed

· Berry Street Block Party – Residents from the 900 block; asked for WCNA support and was given Board support.

· P.E.D.I.C.U.R.E. - - next event this Saturday; Board should try to attend during the event. Mike had conversation with Judy Cole; she thought local artist would be more interested than they have been to date.

· Neighborhood Watch Class

o David Long went to class

§ David to work with our CCW West Central participants to share data/knowledge

§ David will present one module at August General Association Meeting. (20-25 minutes)

· Regional Neighborhood Network Conference – October, Dayton, OH

o City communicates through area partnerships – John will try to obtain more data at SWAT meeting.
