Minutes of the Board

October 18, 2010

 

 

ATTENDEES: Charlotte Weybright, David Long, Cherie Stark, Jack Stark, Susan Smethers, Chris Ruckman, Al Hofer, Casi Bromelmeier, Mike Walsh   

 

GUESTS:  None

 

Interim President Discussion:  Charlotte re-communicated John Simerman’s decision to step down as President of WCNA.  Charlotte briefly talked through her discussion with John.   As vice-president, Charlotte indicated her willingness to act as interim president through year-end.

 

§         Motion made by Jack for Charlotte Weybright to act as interim WCNA Board President for remaining term.  Mike Anderson seconded – vote made, all approved - passed.

§         Motion made by Jack to keep the WCNA Board Vice President position open through the remaining term.  Mike Anderson seconded – vote made, all approved – passed.

 

 

REPORTS

 

Minutes:  September Minutes presented – wording change needed in Thieme Drive section – change made and accepted

 

Treasurers:  September Reports presented and accepted

 

Membership: Total count increased by 2 to 106

 

Plan Committee:   

o        Design Standard Meeting update:

§         Vote to happen 11/19/10

§         Questions raised in meeting regarding CM5A & CM5B

§         Local Historic District not covered under new Design Standards

§         Motion made by Cheri Stark for WCNA Board of Directors to send a letter showing Board’s support of the Design Review Standards. Charlotte seconded; vote made; all approved; passed.

§         Will communicate event at the October WCNA Association meeting

 

Flood Control:

o        Flood Control - No update

o        Erosion Control construction currently underway

 

Tour Committee:

·         CHDO

 

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

·         Parks & Recreation Dept. cutback on funding tree replacements - David passed out ‘Public Comment Form” to members which he received and will also pass out at next week’s Association meeting, for people to respond if they choose.

 

·         Tree Canopy Comeback – marketing material handed out

 

·         Neighborhood Christmas Traditional Lighting Contest

o        Co-sponsored with Sentimental Journey Carriage Rides

o        Open to all WCNA residents

o        Will have non-resident judges;

o        Sentimental Journey will have prize packages for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place

o        Motion made by Jack to support Christmas lightening by advertising and $75 monetary support. Mike Walsh seconded; vote made; all approved; passed.  

 

·         2011 Membership Drive – discussion surrounding how to attract new members (examples: give-a-ways, $10 certificates from local restaurants, etc.) – will continue discussion.

 

·         Zoning

o        Midtown Real Estate – recently approved

o        2 pending – Salin Bank & 125 W. Columbia Street – neither have asked for our support
