o       Minutes from the June meeting were read and approved

·                     Treasurer’s Report

o       Net worth as of July 16, 2007 is $19,849.10

o       Net Income as of July 16, 2007 is $3,107.51 – Net expense was $1,223.87 – net balance through July 16, 2007 was $1,883.64

·                     Membership Report

o       59 individual

o       17 business

COMMITTEE REPORTS

·                  West Central House Tour

o       Everything is pretty much set for the present

§         12 stops on the tour

§         July 24, 2007, is the next meeting

·                  Planning Committee

o       Jill will be gone the week of July 23, 2007

·                  Flood Protection

o       The balustrade and overlook at the intersection of Thieme Drive and Main Street are being refurbished in the fall

o       The light fixtures will also be refurbished

·                  Other

o       The neighborhood has a new liaison – Ryan Hunnicutt who may come to the next meeting

o       CCW – understaffed and behind

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

·                     Swinney Park Pond

·         The pond is being enlarged with an island located in the middle

o       Ready to be framed in – Scott Stauffer says the house is sturdy and contains post-beam construction

o       WCNA will be putting more in than it will get back out

·                     800 block of W. Washington Blvd

o       802-804 West Washington Blvd.

o       815 W. Washington is now off the demo list

§         Someone is stripping the siding from the house

·         Fire destroyed rear part

·         The house is for sale by the owner

·         Tony Deutsch has 4 of 12 units still rented (2 up and 2 down)

·         Across from the law office – issues?

·                     National Night Out – August 7, 2007

·         To be held at the fire station on east side of Broadway

·         WCNA will donate $75 to help out

NEW BUSINESS

 

·                     1000 – 1100 block of Broadway (1006 – 1010 – 1012 – 1014 – 1016)

·         Last time City Council defeated registration as historic district

·         Hearing is July 23, 2007, at 5:30 p.m.

·                     Broadway Commercial district (1122 – 1124 – 1126)

·         Motion to support HPC designation by Kay Gnagney – second by Carol –

·         Discussion was held as to reasons to support HPC designation of 1000 block and 1100 block of Broadway

·         Motion passes

·                     Sidewalk Pavers

·         Volunteers are needed to dig up pavers and store in Franke Park

·         If available, let John know

o                   Other

·         Board of Zoning Appeals – 904 W. Berry is requesting a variance re:  fence on boundary – HPRB must approve

·         Motion by Carol to support variance and seconded by Mike Anderson – motion passes

·         Hearing is July 25, 2007, at 9:00 a.m. in Room 810 in City-County Building

·         Variance at 358 Baker Street is being sought

·         Deals with parking lot landscaping

·         Discussion on location of requested variance

·         Redevelopment encompasses Old Lincoln Life lots along north side of Baker Street down to Ewing

ANNOUNCEMENTS

·                     Emmanual Lutheran is hosting a celebration of their 140th anniversary on Sunday, July 22, 2007, from 12:00 – 2:00

·                     Joann makes motion to send card congratulating church – Mike Anderson seconds motion – motion passes

·                     Parking lot at Wilt and VanBuren was cleaned by the City (Jill called)

·                     Brick streets – only doing patches
