SPECIAL GUESTS

 

·                  Bob Kennedy/Dae Ross

o       Two problems

§         Bank erosion at in the block closest to W. Washington Blvd.

·         2003 and 2005 – major floods – prior not much history of flooding along the St. Marys

·         City contracted for a Section 205 Study with the Army Corps of Engineers

·         Woodhurst has been completed – 1-mile stretch near Airport Road

·         Additional projects at Park-Thompson and Winchester on track

§         Cup area at the intersection of W. Berry, Thieme Drive, and Nelson Street

·         Area is fill dirt – river curves and scours edge of bank

·         Solutions could be rip rap – gabion baskets

§         Financing is an issue – on June 25th the Corps was in Fort Wayne – will need more fill to be able to establish gabions

§         Amount of river bank that might be recovered is about 10 ft.

§         Will need to remove smaller trees but will leave larger trees

§         Two different time frames – erosion control project – close Thieme for about 90 days – cup area – longer time frame

§         M. Anderson to write letter to city in support of the project

o       11 bands

o       Munchies will serve food, pop, and beer

o       Art Fest will be open to the public this year

 

OLD BUSINESS

·                  Section 42 – funding almost gone – will have to wait until December

o       WCNA will act as pass-through – will bring in about $70,000 (8% of home funds) depending on the amount of work done by WCNA

·         1134 Nelson

o       2 offers – first one made too much money

o       Second offer -$50,000 cash – would leave us at a negative balance

o       Drek’s will stage on house tour

·         St. Joe Hospital

o       Park at Main and VanBuren will named in honor of Jerry Henry

 

NEW BUSINESS

·                     Drug Den ordinance – no teeth – ACLU and ICLU are asking to have it thrown out

o       L. Codding will present info on solutions to strengthen act

·                     Mayor’s night out – 8/20/09 5:30 – 7:30

·                     West End Farmer’s Market  - Nebraska Neighborhood has set up market on Main Street

·                     Pond

o       Weeds need to be taken care of – Parks Dept.

·                     Nacy Schoenle

o       Broadway Businesses – press St. John’s Church about empty buildings

·                     Betty Brite

o       New brick faηade – owner is owner of King Gyros – county did a stop work order

·                     Tire Day & Misc.

o       Joanne raises issue of tire day – David will check for August

o       Signs in yards re: grass – code can only cut front yard

o       Wilt – Jackson – bricks almost done

o       13-step House – participated in Great American Clean-Up
