General Meeting

Minutes – May 17, 2010

GUEST SPEAKER:

• Pastor Tom Eggold – Emmanuel Lutheran Church
• Congregation approved the building project – construction to begin late June.
• Internal design is being finalized; exterior plan locked down
• Parking changes on Union Street include flag pole parking for 4 handicap accessible spaces.

TREASURER’S REPORT

· April Reports – presented and accepted

o Developer’ fee on Nelson Street CHDO project was received. Shows as a negative on expenses.

MEMBERSHIP

· 99 total memberships prior to May’s WCNA Association meeting.

HOUSE & GARDEN TOUR COMMITTEE

· WCNA House & Garden Tour ad ongoing in the TinCaps home game brochures

· Carriage rides will run through the wide alley behind Sheridan Court Apts., due to expanded ArtsFest.

· Next meeting, Tuesday, May 25^th @ Halls Gas House

FLOOD COMMITTEE

• 5/17/10 Discussion: Thieme Drive Flood update – Bob Kennedy is indicating City is looking at alternative funding and cash flow. City is not giving up on project.
• 5/17/10 Discussion: Thieme Drive Erosion. Bids are due by June 7^th.
• No additional update

CCW

• Local drug house ordinance is currently being revised. We will look to have city attorney present any updates at a future Assn. meeting.
• If you see suspicious activity in or around the neighborhood, first call local authorities, then send email or call David Long, he can help disseminate some information to help keep neighbors alert.
• David Long has reached out to the group coordinating “Take Back West Central” – Face Book page, to see if they would like to join our neighborhood association and/or come to monthly association meetings.

PLAN COMMITTEE

• Continuing efforts in review of our Neighborhood Plan and updating past action items.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

· CHDO

o 800 Block of West Washington

§ Members of the Board met with Heather Presley & Cindy Joyner – continue to gather information and terms on possible work efforts.

§ Additional meetings with Cindy and Heather to discuss site control and funding possibilities.

§ Discussing five homes, one being 825 W. Washington which could be CHDO project.

· Section 42

o Partnership with Henry Hall is still on the table - September is the next deadline date

§ City has additional funds to help with implementation and training a WC resource on CHDO administrative knowledge.

· WC Yard Sale

o Dates: June 25, 26, 27 (Friday, Saturday & Sunday)

o Ad to be placed in Fort Wayne Newspapers as well as West Central e-Newsletter and online announcement page.

· Dumpster Days (2)

• 1^st day = part of Great American Clean Up effort on June 5^th - - WCNA selected date. David has picked up gloves and
• 8 a.m. to Noon
• 2^nd day = August 25^th date set for Dumpster with roll behind

NEW BUSINESS/ANNOUNCEMENTS

Announcement: June’s Association meeting speaker will be Alec Johnson, FW Parks Department. Discussing the possible property use options for the old Ford Dimension property located on W. Jefferson.
