o       Minutes from the September meeting were read and approved

·                     Treasurer’s Report

COMMITTEE REPORTS

 

·                  Planning Committee

o       City façade grant plan – 8 people have contacted the city for assistance

o       Next meeting is October 22, 2007, at 6:30 p.m.

·                  CCW – next meeting at 6:30 p.m. on October 16, 2007.

o       To join, go to police station

o       Just need people to keep their eyes open

o       Problems have occurred recently with 1300 W. Wayne, 914 W. Jefferson, and 1016 Jackson St.

o       Suggestion was made to use cameras and/or motion sensor lights

·                  Other - none

 

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

 

·                     1134 Nelson Street

o       Painting almost done

o       Putting on finishing touches

o       Open House to be held November 4, 2007, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

o       One major inquiry so far – the person saw the house on the H & G tour – needs income verification

 

·                     807 W. Jefferson

·         Request for variance was withdrawn

·         The house is back up for sale

 

·                     Swinney Park

·         Pond dedication is on October 17, 2007, at 12:00 noon

·         Public is invited to attend

 

§                     Other

·         Tom Cain indicated that the City is putting in trees

·         A list was made available to review

·         If residents want trees in other places, let someone from City know

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

·                     2008 Officers nominating committee

§         Nominating committee was unable to come up with individuals to run for office

§         At last board meeting, the board decided to amend the By-Laws to allow current officers to serve for more than two consecutive terms

§         Slate for Officers for 2008 is:

·         Mike Anderson – President

·         Steve Miranda – Vice-President

·         Mike Walsh – Treasurer

·         Charlotte A. Weybright – Secretary

·         Tracy Potter - Membership

·                     SWAP – Carolyn DeVoe

§         C. DeVoe is against commercial derelict buildings

§         Code has no power in dealing with commercial buildings, only residential buildings

 

OTHER

 

·                     Scott Greider needs a variance for parking for the Broadway street building – 2 in front

·                     Lufkin also needs 2 in front

·                     M. Anderson made a motion to support Scott’s request with Scott writing the variance in his own words – M. Walsh seconded – motion passes
