You are invited to the West Central neighborhood “Winter Mixer,” a chance to get together and beat the winter blues. We encourage all to attend, as we will extend an official warm welcome to our newest neighbors. Join our Beyond Porch Parties Facebook group to RSVP.
Sunday, April TBD, 2026 @ 4pm – Egg Hunt
You’re invited to the 7th annual WCNA Egg Hunt! This event is open to all kids who live in West Central (or whose parents or grandparents live here). Bring a basket and hunt some treat-filled eggs! We’ll have 3 different areas for the hunt based on age: 0-3 years old, 4-6 years old, and 7+. Eggs will be filled with individually-wrapped candy. The hunt will start at 4pm and the eggs go FAST, so don’t be late! Our rain date is TBD at 4pm (keep an eye on our Facebook page for a reschedule announcement). This event is NOT to be shared to any public forum such as a community calendar, news website, online article, etc. It is for residents only.
May 2, 2026 @ 9am – Neighborhood Cleanup / Tire & TV Collection
Join us as we tidy up our neighborhood, including picking up trash, trimming bushes, clearing debris from alleyways, and more. The cleanup will run from 9am-11am. Meet at the corner of Wilt and Van Buren.
June 5-6, 2026 – Neighborhood Yard Sales
Join us for a weekend of yard sales all around West Central. You never know what hidden treasures you’ll find and deals you’ll get on antiques and art! Homeowners make their own hours. The best stuff goes early!
July 25, 2026 @ 11am – Block Party
Food, games, bounce houses, and prizes for the kids. This annual event is held at Moody Park and is open to all residents of the West Central neighborhood.
Wednesday, September 3, 2025 @ 7pm – Neighborhood Cleanup
Join us as we tidy up our neighborhood before the Home & Garden Tour. This will be a quick cleanup focused on picking up trash and trimming trees and bushes along the tour route.
Friday, September 11, 2026 @ 6pm – Pre-Tour Party
The pre-tour party is for all Home & Garden Tour volunteers, sponsors, and homeowners. This event is our way of saying thank you! Details will be emailed out to those who are invited.
September 12-13, 2026 – Home & Garden Tour and ArtsFest
Join us for our annual home and garden tour! Check out the Home & Garden Tour Info page for details. Buy tickets, or attend ArtsFest for free, where you’ll find artists’ booths and live music.
Saturday, October 10, 2026 @ 7:30pm – Movie Night
Join us for our 4th annual free family-friendly movie at Moody Park. This year, we will be showing the movie Shrek. The movie starts at 7:30pm sharp. We will be giving out boxes of buttered popcorn to the first 35 movie-goers and glow necklaces to the first 50, so bring your blankets, chairs, and drinks! This event is open to all residents of the West Central Neighborhood and members of the Northwest Central Collaborative (Bloomingdale, Hamilton, North Highlands, and Nebraska). Remember that there are NO restrooms at the park, so plan accordingly. Keep an eye on our Facebook page in the event of bad weather. Monday, November 16, 2026 @ 7pm – West Central Board of Directors Election
West Central Neighborhood Association members who are current on their dues and have signed in at least three neighborhood meetings or events in 2026 may cast their vote for the West Central Board of Directors. Join us in the basement meeting room of Emmanuel Lutheran Church on W. Jefferson.
Monday, December 7, 2026 @ 6pm – Holiday Party
This family-friendly event is open to all residents of the West Central Neighborhood. Stay tuned for details.
TBD December, 2026 – Cookie Exchange
Bring 1-2 dozen cookies for exchange and consumption. All residents are welcome and encouraged to attend. Appetizers will be available as well as plenty of cookies.
